LAFC Sees Its Early Lead Evaporate Following A Red Card And Late Goal In Kansas City

Sporting Kansas City did what they do best and came from behind to beat LAFC at Children’s Mercy Park.

After scoring his first goal for LAFC, Kim Moon-Hwan gave the Black & Gold a first half lead. That one-goal lead quickly evaporated after Tristan Blackmon’s 58th-minute red card. Daniel Solloi was able to net the winning goal in the 87th minute.

Sporting KC have now posted the most come-from-behind victories this season with five. KC climbed within two points of league-leading Seattle Sounders, while LAFC remained in ninth place in the Western Conference.

  • Kim Moon-Hwan got past multiple defenders and netted his first LAFC goal through an assist from Jose Cifuentes.
  • Daniel Salloi looked to be in on goal before Tristan Blackmon pulled him down and earned himself a red card in the 58th minute.
  • LAFC’s captain, Carlos Vela, was used as a 57th minute substitute in this match, meaning Eduard Atuesta filled in as captain. Vela has struggled with injuries this season, but scored and assisted in LAFC’s match against FC Dallas.
  • The Black & Gold have yet to string more than one victory together and remain in ninth place in the Western Conference with ten games played.
